Description/Interesting Notes: A unique example of calcite and quartz var. "Herkimer Diamond" from New York!!! This specimen consists of a complex euhedral crystal of calcite that hosts a pair of gem-clear herkimer diamond quartz crystals!!! The calcite crystal has a curious, naturally etched surface that shows preferentially etched parallel fissures along the cleavage planes in certain areas!!! The quartz crystals are razor sharp and gem clear!!! The quartz crystals are complete, however they exhibit what appears to be complex contacts from calcite that has since dissolved!!! Upon close examination, the features are quite complex and atypical from simply quartz crystal contacts!!! This specimen is quite handsome in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
