A historic example of hessite and chlorargyrite from Tombstone!!! This specimen consists of a vuggy quartz matrix that hosts
numerous areas of what is presumed to be hessite in association with complex, tan colored crystals and encrustations of
chlorargyrite!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see some small, complex forms and masses of a darkly colored
mineral that appears to show significant alteration!!! The specimen is identified on the old labels as hessite, however
it has not been analyzed in any modern way - it certainly has some silver content so one could safely label it as "silver ore" until
further analysis!!! However, even more exciting than the specimen are the old labels!!! This specimen retains
an old label from the 1893 World's Fair - Arizona Exhibit!!! The 1893 World's Fair label notes that the specimen is
from the "Tombstone M & M Co." and also provides more specific locality info and gold/silver assay values!!!
The specimen also retains labels from the collections of J. Kenneth Fisher and Paul Lazar as well!!! Incredible historic material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
