Description/Interesting Notes:
A rich and unique example of hessite from this classic Arizona locale!!! This specimen hosts a very rich showing of hessite!!! Upon
close inspection this specimen seems to be comprised of a dense network of pyrite crystals that have been subsequently altered by grayish hessite and
some unidentified rare tellurates (bright green, red, and yellow colored species)!!! One can see that there are a few
scattered areas of pyrite that remain unaltered, but the great majority have been replaced by solid gray hessite!!! Aside from the
replaced/altered grains of pyrite there is a significant showing of massive hessite present as well!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one
can see a few cubic pyrite crystals that have been fragmented in situ and are being replaced by some of the unidentified associates (likely
tellurate species)!!! The hessite appears to have further replaced such material!!! Not only is this a fantastic, rich
example of hessite - it is very interesting upon close study!!! This specimen retains an old label from Forest Cureton as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
