Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, rich example of hessite from this seldom referenced locality!!! This specimen consists of a very rich mass of
hessite in association with pyrite, altaite, and other unidentified tellurides and associated species!!! The hessite occupies a
significant portion of this specimen and has a dark silver-gray metallic brilliance!!! The pics simply don't capture just how
significant the large masses of solid hessite are in person!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope there is a lot
more to be seen scattered about the specimen as well!!! Although it is
not discernable in the pics, there is a small area of altaite present that
has a dramatically different metallic hue and sharp, squared-off cleavage faces!!! There are some possible micro-grains of
native gold present as well!!! This specimen retains a label from the Fersman Mineralogical Museum and an old label from Joe Cilen
as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th!!!
