Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of hauntajayite from the type locality in Chile!!! Huantajayite is a very rare varietal of silver-rich (argentian)
halite!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of translucent huantajayite on matrix!!! Upon close inspection, there are some rounded subhedral
crystals
present as well!!! It is difficult to appreciated just how much huantajayite is present because it is colorless, however
in person you can see that the specimen hosts a very significant showing of huantajayite that covers much of the face of the
specimen!!! Additionally, when a small fragment of the huantajayite was removed and dissolved in water, it left behind a milky white suspension
of silver chloride!!! This is the most distinctive characteristic of this very rare material and it was quite fascinating to see in person (the grain
of huantajayite actually threw off plumes of white silver chloride in a pretty dramatic fashion!)!!! This unique old time rarity retains
an old label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains an affixed catalogue label as well!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 23rd!!!
