Hydroxylherderite
Xanda mine (Xandra mine), Virgem da Lapa, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.83cm x 2.06cm x 1.54cm
Ex. Robert E. Jenkins II Collection No. 7167
Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific example of hydroxyl herderite from Brazil!!! This specimen consists of a complex single crystal of light purple hydroxyl herderite!!! The
crystal has highly complex faces that are partially the result of contacts of a long-since dissolved unknown species!!!
The crystal has marked luster and clarity with pale lavender color!!! There are some crystals of
muscovite and a single black crystal of columbite-tantalite in association as well!!! For some reason the digital camera picked the specimen up as
a darker purple color than it is in person - in person the specimen is actually a pale lavender color!!!
This specimen is from the personal collection of Bob Jenkins and retains its original personal collection label!!!
hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
