Description/Interesting Notes: A rare and unusual old time example of iodargyrite from San Francisco!!! This is a group of five individual specimens of iodargyrite!!! The specimens all host areas of dark gray to dark olive iodargyrite!!! The iodargyrite is present as crusts and veins on the specimens and, if scratched exhibit a yellowish green color under the surface!!! The old museum label notes that the label corresponds to five individual specimens and the specimens all have corresponding catalogue numbers (the label says "Iodyrite" which is not a misspelling but an antiquated synonym of iodargyrite)!!! The locality is certainly intruiging and I have not been able to locate any additional information regarding the presence of this silver-bearing species in San Francisco nor the history of the specimens - the only thing I know for certain is that these are OLD specimens!!! If I turn up any additional details or info I will be sure to add it as usual!!! A very excitining rare old time specimen indeed!!! The pics hardly do them justice!!!
