Jadeite with Glaucophane
Austin Creek pit, Sheridan, Russian River District, Coast Range, Sonoma Co., California
5.6cm x 5.2cm x 3.1cm
Ex. J. Cilen Collection No. 4137
Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare example of crystalline jadeite!!! Jadeite is almost universally known as massive material, with crystalline examples
being extremely rare!!! This specimen is comprised of significant, well defined intergrown crystals of light green
jadeite in association with bluish gray glaucophane!!! There are also several small vugs of crystals present around the specimen as well!!! The
glaucophane is present as a few masses of dark bluish gray material and also coats one side of the specimen!!! The specimen is mostly comprised
of well crystallized jadeite!!! This specimen is from the collection of Joe Cilen and retains his original label and catalogue number as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
