Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of rare jalpaite and native silver from the type locality in Mexico!!!
This rare, old time specimen hosts a very rich showing of dark gray jalpaite in association
with native silver and turquoise-blue chrysocholla!!! In addition to a significant showing of
massive jalpaite this specimen actually hosts some complex crystals of jalpaite to 8mm!!! Upon close
inspection one can see areas of characteristically rounded, complexly crystalline jalpaite!!!
Upon close examination, one can see that some of the jalpaite crystals
still embedded in the chrysocholla actually have a paper-thin layer of native silver that encapsulates
them around the perimeter!!! There are significant sheets of native silver that run through the specimen
and protrude from the matrix as well!!! The silver is much richer than it might appear in the pictures!!!
This is a fantastic, old time rarity indeed!!!
Fine examples of jalpaite such as this are nearly impossible to obtain on todays market!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
