Description/Interesting Notes:
A handsome, old time example of this rare species from the type locale!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of
dark grayish jalpaite in association with native silver in a matrix of colorful blue-green chrysocolla!!! While
there is a significant showing of massive jalpaite, there are significant areas of crystalline jalpaite present as well!!! The
jalpaite crystals exhibit characteristic complexity and, upon close inspection one can see some native silver in association!!!
In fact, upon close inspection with a loupe or a scope, one can see areas in the matrix where the jalpaite is outlined with a
paper-thin layer of native silver (often times the jalpaite crystals included in chrysocolla like this
are enveloped in native silver)!!! This rare, type locality material likely dates to the very early 1900's!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer
