Description/Interesting Notes:
An increidble, old time example of jamesonite from this seldom referenced German locale!!!
Usually, jamesonite is encountered as fine, hair like crystals - thick, substantial specimens such as this are quite scarce indeed!!! This specimen
consists of a dense group of intergrown crystals of jamesonite!!! The jamesonite crystals are unusually thick and large for the species and
are present as intergrown groups of parallel and slightly divergent crystals!!! In person, the crystals and orientations are much more defined as well!!! This is
truly an exceptional specimen!!! Crystals of this size and quality could easily rival the historic specimens from Zacatecas!!! This
extraordinary German jamesonite is from the collection of Dr. Peter von Bitter!!! Dr. von Bitter is Curator of Invertebrate Paleontology at the Royal Ontario Museum and Prof. of
Geology at the University of Toronto!!! Dr. von Bitter is also a benefactor of the Royal Ontario Museum and donated his exceptional
mineral collection to the Royal Museum's Department of Mineralogy!!! This specimen also retains an old label from Ward's as well!!! Truly
an incredible example of the species - and a magnificent example from Germany as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 5th!!!
