Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of cobaltoan calcite with rare kolwizite from the type locality in Kolwezi!!! This specimen hosts a striking showing of highly translucent, rich magenta colored cobaltoan calcite crystals in aesthetic association with dark green, pseudomorphic crystals of kolwezite!!! The cobaltoan calcite crystals exhibit sharp, modified scalenohedral form!!! Kolwezite is rare in and of itself, however it is usually found as botryoidal crystals or sprays - this specimen hosts a very rare showing of pseudomorphic kolwezite crystals, present as complexly intergrown rhombs of kolwezite after an unknown species (possibly dolomite or sphaerocobaltite)!!! Simply a terrific and unusual example of this rare species in a very aesthetic presentation with showy cobaltoan calcite crystals!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
