A fantastic example of this rare gem species from Madagascar!!! Actual crystals of kornerupine are quite rare, and matrix
examples are almost nonexistent!!! This specimen hosts numerous sharply defined crystals of dark greenish
crystals to 1.7cm!!! The crystals are much more sharply defined and prominent than the pics show!!! The matrix is comprised
of biotite mica and light bluish lavender corderierite (upon close inspection one can see that the corderierite has areas of
marked clarity as well)!!! The kornerupine crystals have glassy luster and marked clarity!!! This specimen is SOOOO much better
than the pics show - in person the crystals stand out from the matrix in a much more significant way!!! There are
several individual crystals that would be significant specimens in and of themselves!!! This is truly an
incredible example of the species!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of
Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen
PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming
days and weeks!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
