Krohnkite Chuquicamata Mine, Chuquicamata District, Calama, El Loa Province, Antofagasta Region, Chile 3.5cm x 2.62cm x 1.82cm Ex. A. E. Foote

Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutley incredible, old time example of krohnkite from Chile!!! This specimen is very different than the much more commonly seen, somewhat massive krohnkite speciemns!!! This specimen consists of a handsome cluster of sharply defined, euhedral crystals!!! This specimen is so impressive that when we first acquired this specimen we were skeptical - thinking that it was either misidentified or synthetic!!! However, subsequent research revealed that this is indeed genuine material!!! There were some very old finds of krohnkite that produced these exceptional crystals - and they are just incredibly rare!!! Upon close inspection, one can see that the crystals have significant inclusions of what appears to be characteristic matrix material and it appears there may be a second, unidentified species in association as well!!! This specimen retains an old label from A.E. Foote as well!!! Simply an incredible example of the species from the type locality!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
