Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of labradorite from this famous locality!!! This specimen consists of a single,
natural crystal of anorthite var. labradorite!!! The specimen has an overall rhombahedral shape with
completely natural, unpolished surfaces all around!!! Usually one sees only polished examples of
labradorite and the labradorescence cannot easily be seen otherwise - however this specimen exhibits
intense multicolor bluish-green flashes naturally!!! This specimen has marked translucence as well - much more so than
the pics show!!! At certain angles, the labradorescence exhibits areas of golden and reddish
iridescence along with the blue (technically this material is "spectrolite" since it exhibits
more than just blue flashes although the blue is by far the most significant and dramatic)!!!
This specimen is quite striking in person - a natural, "rhomb-like" crystal of gemmy-translucent
labradorite from Finland!!! This specimen is the second part of a pair of rare labradorite "crystals" we
acquired in an old collection - this one had the sharpest form of the pair!!! I have never seen similar "crystals" of
labradorite aside from these two examples!!! Old material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully
appreciated!!!
