Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of native lead from Langban!!! Examples of native lead are rarely found in nature because it so readily alters into other minerals, however these old time specimens from Langban represent some of the finest examples of the species!!!
This specimen consists of a complex crystal of native lead in association with massicot and pyrochroite!!! The specimen
seems to exhibit an overall cubic form with highly complex, hoppered features!!! The specimen is quite solid and hefty!!!
There is a significant coating of tannish colored massicot as well as other lead secondaries and a significant
mass of jet-black pyrochroite!!! Upon close inspection there appear to be some well formed, platy crystals
of massicot present!!! This specimen came from an old lot of material that came out of the
Sorbonne Museum!!! Classic material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 12th!!!
