Description/Interesting Notes:
This is an absolutely incredible example of rare leiteite with warikahnite from Tsumeb!!! Leiteite in itself is rare, but matrix examples are
very rare and highly sought after!!! Not only is this a magnificent matrix example of leiteite but there is an intensely colored, gemmy
crystal of rare warikahnite in prominent association!!! In addition to the warikahnite, there are some tiny crystals of schneiderhohnite, zincian siderite, and
some other unidentified species!!! The specimen is absolutely loaded with leiteite - present as thick, significant crystals with marked clarity, as well as
rich veins of leiteite and small, COMPLETE crystals tucked in protected cavities in the matrix!!! There is much more leiteite than the pics indicate because the
cleavage faces are not showing but rather the outer edges, which blend in with some of the matrix!!! The warikahnite is present as a complexly
etched partial crystal that has rich yellow color, gemmy clarity, and glassy luster!!! Upon close inspection, there are some tiny submillimeter crystals of schneiderhohnite partially included in
some of the leiteite in one area and there are some tiny, submillimeter crystals of zincian siderite present as well!!! The zincian siderite crystals
were difficult to capture with the camera, but under a scope or loupe they are brilliantly lustrous, gemmy, and have rootbeer brown color!!!
Additionally, there are several other very curious unidentified species present when viewed with a scope or loupe!!! This is a VERY exciting
specimen to examine in close detail - with a number of rare species present and more to discover!!!
This is simply an incredible, display worthy example of leiteite with rare warikahnite and other rare associates!!! The pics
hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
