Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of magnetite from this famed New York locality!!! This specimen consists of a razor sharp cluster of highly lustrous magnetite crystals in association
with a single crystal of calcite!!! The magnetite crystals exhibit the characteristic,
highly complex, modified cubic habit that this locality is so famous for!!!
Usually these specimens have been etched out of matrix and often have somewhat matted luster - however this is a rare, pocket specimen that
has not been etched from matrix!!! The pronounced luster and associated calcite crystal are evidence of this!! The calcite is present as a
somewhat gemmy, lustrous rhomb aesthetically centered among the starkly contrasting magnetite crystals!!!
This specimen displays magnificently all around!!! This specimen came from a group of fantastic magnetite specimens acquired from well-known New England collector
Ken Hollman!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
