Malachite with Cerussite on Chalcocite Butte, Butte District, Silver Bow Co., Montana 9.33cm x 6.9cm x 3.92cm Ex. Robert E. Jenkins II Collection No. 8934

Description/Interesting Notes: A very rare example of malachite with cerussite on chalcocite from Butte!!! This specimen consists of a dense mass of chalcocite that hosts several broad patches of velveteen malachite crystals in addition to several associated cerussite crystals!!! Malachite specimens from Butte are quite scarce indeed, and cerussite crystals are even more so - this is a very unusual combination indeed!!! Curiously, the orange-red material appears to be crystalline upon close examination!!! An unusual Butte specimen indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of well known Butte collector and scholar Bob Jenkins and retains his original collection label!!!
