Description/Interesting Notes: A rare, old time locality example of malachite with cuprite and native copper from Virginia!!! This specimen consists of a core of native copper that has altered to cuprite and, ultimately, lively green malachite!!! There are several areas where the deep red cuprite core is exposed and, upon close examination, one can see some small areas of native copper as well!!! The malachite is actually better crystallized than it might at first appear - with significant areas of crysalline malachite present throughout the specimen!!! In addition to the malachite, there are numerous submillimeter crystals of darkly colored magnetite distributed throughout the malachite - these can be seen with magnification and are surprisingly plentiful!!!
