Axinite-(Mn) Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey 2cm x 1.6cm x 1.5cm Ex. Tony Nikischer Collection

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of axinite-(Mn), also known asmanganaxinite, from Franklin!!! This specimen consists of a group of intergrown blades of lustrous, intense orange manganaxinite in association with a small amount of andradite!!! The crystals consist of fine, glassy, gemmy blades!!! Interestingly, only some of the blades show an intense orange-red fluorescence under SW UV which gives it a rather unique appearance in person!!! It almost appears like a glowing-hot electric filament!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope there are some minute pale tan, bladed crystals present as well (they flouresce blue under SW UV)!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!!
