Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of manganoan calcite (manganocalcite) from this classic Colorado locale!!! These
old time Idarado manganocalcites are scarce and highly sought after by collectors!!! This specimen consists of a
large and showy cluster of rich pink manganocalcite crystals that range in size to over 4cm!!! The crystals have a marked, glowing
translucence with sharp, lustrous faces and highly complex forms!!! The habit and
associated matrix are characteristic of the locality!!!
Although there is some minor damage, the specimen is overall in great condition and displays magnificently in person!!! The
color, quality, and overall aesthetics are all WAY better than the pics show!!! In person the pink color is
great, the complex crystals are wonderfully translucent, lustrous, and jut out aesthetically from the matrix!!!
In person it is immediately apparent why these classic Colorado specimens are so highly prized by collectors!!! This specimen came
out of an old collection and originally had been acquired from a well-known Colorado dealer!!! Classic material!!!
