Tantalite-(Mn) "Manganotantalite" with Lepidolite

Swanson Quarry, East Hampton, Middlesex Co., Connecticut

2cm x 1.6cm x 1.45cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of magnanotantalite from Connecticut!!! This specimen hosts a sharp, lustrous crystal of maganotantalite on matrix in association with a lavender colored ball of lepidolite!!! The crystal has sharply defined faces with glassy luster and dark reddish brown highlights!!! Upon close examination the crystal shows flashes of dark reddish brown color within!!! The crystal measures well over 1cm and is handsomely perched on the matrix!!! A very fine example of the species for the locale!!! This specimen retains an old label that notes it was collected by Tony Albini in 1980 as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 18th!!!
