Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent combination specimen featuring a large crystal of deep red manganotantalite from Brazil!!! This specimen
represents an incredible assemblage of mineral species!!! This specimen consists of a large, showy crystal of
deep red manganotantalite backed by intergrown crystals of cleavlandite and microlite with areas of
pink lepidolite and light blue fluorapatite!!! The microlite crystals are present as a contiguous group of
oriented octahedral crystals!!! There is a significant area of microlite that appears to be somewhat altered as well (upon
close inspection one can see crystalline forms in this darkly colored, matte luster material)!!! The lepidolite crystals
have rich pink color and marked translucence!!! The fluorapatite crystal has a handsome blue color and marked translucence as well!!!
Upon close in spection one can see a few tiny grains of gemmy pink tourmaline as well!!! The
manganotantalite has a broad, lustrous face with showy red color and areas of marked clarity!!! Simply an incredible
specimen all around!!! This specimen came from the collection of Thomas J. Campbell, co-author of Encyclopedia of Minerals and
retains an old label from Richard V. Gaines as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 10th!!!
