An absolutely incredible example of margarite from this classic New England locality!!! This specimen hosts a cluster of sharp, free standing
crystals of margarite to well over 4cm on a dark greenish matrix of corundophyllite clinochlore!!! This is easily the best example of margarite
I have seen from Chester!!! Almost always margarite is seen as more-or-less massive material comprised of intergrown crystals - rarely you will see well
spaced, defined, or discreet crystals but to see such large, sharp, and complete crystals FREE STANDING on matrix in such an aesthetic fashion - that is just
unheard of!!! The crystals have the classic light pink color and pearlescent luster, but what's more is that these crystals actually exhibit
some marked translucence, as you can see on some of the sharp edges!!! When I first saw this specimen it blew my mind - if you are familiar with the
species and locality I am sure you can see why!!! This specimen is in magnificent condition and displays superbly!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Simply
an extraoridinary example of the species from this historic locality!!!
