Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rich example of this rare nickel telluride from this seldom referenced Australian locale!!! This specimen
hosts a very rich mass of brilliantly metallic melonite in association with some brassy pyrite and quartz matrix!!! The
melonite has a bright metallic luster with a slightly pinkish-bronze silver hue!!!
There are numerous broad cleavage faces scattered about the massive melonite and there are also a few significant
areas where the mass simply appears "contacted" and actually has complexly crystalline features!!! The
pyrite has a distinctly brassy yellow hue with no cleavage and is readily discernable from the melonite in person (the metallic
material is mostly melonite)!!! Upon close inspection there are many very interesting features and it appears there
may be some other tellurides (likely calaverite) in minor association as well!!!
This is a magnificent example of the species indeed!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer
