Mendipite with Hydrocerussite in Wad

Mendip Hills, Somerset, England

3.75cm x 3cm x 1.82cm

Ex. Carlton M. Davis Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific example of this rare species from the type locality in England!!! This specimen consists of a darkly colored wad matrix that hosts a stark white mass of hydrocerussite crystals with a group of parallel associated mendipite crystals prominently set in the center!!! The mendipite crystals are present in a characteristic group of columnar crystals and have marked luster!!! Upon close inspection the surrounding hydrocerussite is much better crystallized than it shows in the pictures!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Carlton M. Davis collection as well!!! Rare old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 28th!!!
