Description/Interesting Notes: A magnificent example of this lesser known and much, much rarer of the "ruby silvers" (the others being pyrargyrite and proustite)!!! This rare old timer from Bolivia consists of a mass of nearly solid miargyrite with vugs of crystals that host complex miargyrite crystals up to several millimeters in addition to some unidentified species in the largest vug!!! This specimen retains its antique Westenberger label!!! The pics don't even come close to doing this incredible specimen justice!!! This locality was a ghost town as far back as the 19th century and mining at the location had begun by the 16th century!!! This specimen dates back to well over 100 years ago!!!
