Description/Interesting Notes:
An old time, rare example of mimetite from this historic locality!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of complexly
intergrown crystals of greenish mimetite crystals in association with a small amount of matrix!!! In person, one can see that this specimen
has unusually brilliant luster and near gem clarity in some of the smaller crystals!!! The color is somewhat unusual as well and
there almost appears to be some orange-green hues in areas!!! Upon close inspection, the specimen exhibits a number of unusual characteristics!!!
Pyromorphite and mimetite form a series and, I am told
that this is a confirmed mimetite!!! This specimen is from a
well known East Coast collector was originally part of a trio of small specimems that originally came from one original specimen - although we
sold the old label with the first specimen we will gladly provide a digital copy of it to the winner upon request!!! The specimen does retain a
label from the collector of course however!!! A rare and unusual find indeed!!! In person it is immediately apparent that it is certainly
atypical material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
