Description/Interesting Notes:
An old time, rare example of mimetite from this historic locality!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of complexly intergrown crystals of
greenish mimetite crystals in association with a small amount of matrix!!! In person, one can see edges and zones of orange-green highlights in some areas!!!
Pyromorphite and mimetite form a series and, I am told that this is a confirmed mimetite - this specimen retains a prominent contemporary dealer label as well as that
of a well known East Coast collector and the unattributed antique label you see photographed below!!! The crystals have unusually brilliant luster and
marked clarity in areas - features that are much more apparent in person!!! The crystals also exhibit a complex habit with some crystals having a curiously
curvaceous habit (not unlike mimetite var. campyllite)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
