Monazite Ramsey Mine, Ramseytown, Yancey Co., North Carolina 5.05cm x 4cm x 3cm Andrew G. Toussaint No. 1034 (1906-1974)

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic, old time example of monazite from North Carolina!!! This specimen consists of a particularly large, complex crystal of monazite!!! The monazite crystal exhibits highly complex form with some sharply defined faces and well defined features!!! The crystal has areas of marked luster and some small areas of marked translucence as well!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or a scope shows that there are a few minute autunite crystals present and possibly some other darkly colored uranium bearing species (the specimen shows signficant activity)!!! This specimen has an old label from the collection of Andrew G. Toussaint as well!!! Rare old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
