Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare, old time example of moschellandsbergite from this historic locality!!! This specimen hosts a complex crystal of
moschellandsbergite on matrix!!! The moschellandsbergite crystal measures nearly 6mm and exhibits a highly complex habit!!! Upon close
inspection, one can see well defined faces!!! The crystal also exhibits characteristic puckering seen in this rare species as it loses mercury content
over time!!! The matrix hosts some other unidentified species as well!!! While I have never seen a moschellandsbergite specimen from this locality, the matrix looks
very similar to type locality material!!! Moschellandsbergite crystals are extremely rare and highly sought after - with matrix examples being exponentially so!!!
The reverse also appears to host an additional, much smaller crystal as well!!! The matrix may host some amalgam, cinnabar, and possibly native silver as well!!!
This specimen retains an old label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum with L. L. Hubbard (1849-1933)collection notation!!! The pics
hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 20th!!!
