Olmiite (Olmiite-Poldervaartite Series) Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa 7.35cm x 6.54cm x 2.26cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific example of olmiite from Wessels!!! This specimen hosts several highly lustrous, very translucent crystals of olmiite on matrix!!! There has been some confusion in recent years about the identity of olmiite and poldervaartite crystals!!! Nearly all specimens labelled as poldervaartite are actually olmiites!!! This specimen is from older material that came through Charlie Key years ago!!! For some reason the crystals show up a slightly red color in some of the pictures, however it is more of a grayish-peach color in person!!! The crystals are really quite fantastic for the species!!!
