Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of orthoclase from this rare and historic New York City locality!!! This specimen came from the
famed High Bridge Aqueduct, New York City's oldest surviving bridge - construction of which began in 1837!!! This specimen
was part of a group of specimens from this same locality (some of the labels that have more room list the locality as
High Bridge Aqueduct, not to be confused with the Bronx neighborhood of the same name) that came out of an old collection!!!
specimen consists of a single orthoclase crystal, proudly perched atop a small amount of matrix with several
small almandine garnet crystals in association!!! The orthoclase crystal has bright luster and a handsome ivory color!!! Upon
close inspection the garnet crystals are complete, lustrous, and have deep red color!!! Rare, old time material!!!
This specimen is part of a suite of New York City specimens that we will be
releasing throughout the upcoming weeks!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 2nd!!!
