Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible combination of rarities from this old time Michigan locality!!! This specimen is comprised of a significant portion of
black paramelaconite with green paratacamite and intense blue claringbullite!!! There is also some
chrysocolla and epidote in association with
characteristic basalt matrix!!! There are SO many incredible things going on with this specimen that it is difficult to know where to start!!!
There are numerous pseudomorphs of paramelaconite and/or chrysocolla after an undetermined species (cuprite?) present (these are much more
significant than the pictures show)!!! In addition, there are two small areas of claringbullite present - a VERY significant rarity for the region!!!
The paratacamite crystals are well formed as well!!! The old Cilen label mentions nantockite being present as well, however I would expect them to
be significantly altered if they are present!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see some tiny crystalline areas of
paramelaconite and the other species are quite impressive as well!!! There is a small amount of calcite in association as well!!! The chrysocolla is
quite colorful and shows a range of colors from dark green to a very bright turquoise blue!!! The epidote is present in intimate association
with the matrix and chrysocolla!!! This is an amazing, and very significant specimen from this historic locality!!!
A killer Michigan rarity indeed!!! This specimen retains an old label from Joe Cilen as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 15th!!!
