A fantastic old time example of this rare gem species from Elba!!! This specimen consists of a matrix comprised of heulandite and foresite that hosts
several intergrown elbaite crystals as well as rare petalite crystals!!! The petalite crystal is a pristine gem floater - complete all around and internally flawless!!!
Petalite crystals from Elba are almost never seen in matrix for the simple reason that they are almost always floaters that are not "attached" to any matrix!!! This old time specimen actually had the petalite crystal glued into
the cavity from where it came, however I carefully dissolved the glue and now the specimen is natural and the way it would be found in nature!!! The crystal
fits neatly in its cavity that is aesthetically centered on the matrix and displays fantastically!!! There is a small petalite crystal that is still contained in its original
cavity on the underside of the specimen as well!!! If one was so daring as to trim this specimen, I would not be surprised if others were exposed!!! There are several elbaite tourmaline
crystals that run through the specimen and they are much more apparent than the pics show - there are also very many thin, nearly colorless elbaite crystals that comprise a portion of the matrix as well!!!
This specimen is a very rare find indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
