Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of petzite and native gold from Colorado!!! This specimen hosts an extremely rich showing
of darkly colored petzite intimately associated with native gold!!! Most of the darkly colored material on this specimen
is comprised of finely disseminated petzite!!! The petzite likely represents the majority of the specimen by weight and
is also intergrown with quartz and a small amount of galena and pyrite!!! There are also numerous masses and grains of
solid petzite scattered throughout the specimen as well!!! In addition, there are numerous significant areas of
eye-visible native gold scattered about the specimen!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or a scope, one
can even find a few tiny, submillimeter crystals of petzite as well!!!
This specimen came from old material that came from the A.E.
Seaman Museum - the material had not been catalogued but was noted as coming from the German mineralogist B. Klose!!!
Rare old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
