Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time collection of native platinum and PGM grains from Alaska!!! This is the second lot
of material from a small vial that was filled with native platinum and PGM grains from the placer deposits
at Goodnews Bay!!! While there are numerous significant grains up to 2.5mm in size there are also numerous
tiny crystals that appear to be not just native platinum, but rarer PGM species (Platinum Group Metal species are
those that may contain ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and/or platinum)!!! I have not done anything
other than a preliminary glimpse under the scope and it is quite obvious that there are some rare PGM species
present in addition to the native platinum (as well as a tiny bit of native gold as well)!!! In addition to native platinum other species likely
present include, isoferroplatinum, the related Os,Ir,Ru species (osmium-iridium-rutheniridosmine),
and numerous other exciting rarities!!! I am likely giving away a small fortune here!!! There is a LOT of
curious material in here (for instance, there are some unusually brilliant hexagonal crystals, a few tiny bits of
gold, unusually striated grains, etc., etc., ) !!! This parcel is almost all platinum (and PGMs) by weight and
of significant value for just that reason alone - however there is some really exciting stuff to be seen
under the scope!!! For any of you rare species or PGM collectors - you do not want to miss out on this lot!!!
The pics don't even come close to doing this incredible lot justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
