Description/Interesting Notes:
This specimen hosts the very rare platinum & palladium bearing species atokite and rustenbergite in chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite-cubanite
ore from Siberia!!! This specimen came from material used in a published article,
"A Proton-Microprobe Study of Magmatic Sulfide Ores from the Noril'sk-Talnakh District, Siberia" from The
Canadian Mineralogist Vol.30 June, 1992!!! This specimen is part of one that was is studied and described in very specific detail in the
article (specimen #90-OMZS1-3)!!! This specimen has been cut and polished on three sides and was a "sweet spot" of a particularly
rich area of atokite and rustenbergite (it is also quite possible that other rare species are present as well)!!! There is a
rich showing of defined masses throughout the specimen that
all show varying metallic hues - there are a lot of silvery masses and forms of varying hues and shades that are much more
prominent in person as well!!! The pictures hardly capture just how much is going on here and just how
interesting the specimen is!!! This is a very significant specimen indeed and specimens like
this are rarely, if ever, available!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 7th!!!
