Description/Interesting Notes:
This specimen hosts the very rare platinum & palladium bearing species atokite and rustenbergite in chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite-cubanite
ore from Siberia!!! This specimen was
published in the article "A Proton-Microprobe Study of Magmatic Sulfide Ores from the Noril'sk-Talnakh District, Siberia" from The
Canadian Mineralogist Vol.30 June, 1992!!! This specimen is studied and described in very specific detail in the
article (specimen #90-OMZS1-3)!!! The
specimen was analyzed and confirmed and there are a few other species in association as well!!! One striking feature of this specimen
is that there are some very distinct patterns of criss-crossing angular features visible within the specimen that almost
resemble the Widmanstätten patterns commonly seen in
meteorites!!! These features are more easily seen in person!!! There are also a rich showing of defined masses throughout the specimen that
all show varying metallic hues - there are a lot of silvery masses and forms of varying hues and shades that are much more
prominent in person as well!!! The pictures hardly capture just how much is going on here and just how
interesting the specimen is!!! For a massive combination of rare species, this is actually a very showy specimen!!!
The article describes the specimen in great detail (size, orientation,
description, etc. of various veins, grains, masses, and features)!!! This is a very significant specimen indeed and specimens like
this are rarely, if ever, available!!! A copy of the article will be included with the specimen as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3rd!!!
