Prehnite with Calcite on Tanzanite D-Block Mine, Merelani Hills, Lelatema Mts, Arusha Region, Tanzania 4.54cm x 4.24cm x 3cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A unique and impressive example of prehnite from Tanzania!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of amber and purple colored tanzanite that hosts an incredible cluster of large, elongated crystals of prehnite in association with ball-like groups of gemmy calcite crystals, scattered crystals of graphite, and possibly some unidentified zeolites!!! The prehnite crystlas are sharp, lustrous, and complete!!! In addition to their impressive size and form, the crystals also exhibit a marked color change as well!!! Although it is apparently impossible to capture in the photos - the prehnite crystals exhibit a significant color change from bluish-green or bluish to a pale lavender or lavender-gray depending on the light source (incandescent and sunlight or full spectrum fluorescent)!!! The specimen also fluoresces under UV as well!!! Under SW UV, the prehnite crystals show yellow flourescence while the calcite crystals show bright red fluorescence (very cool combo)!!! This is a killer example of prehnite from this locale!!! There is much more to be seen upon close inspection in person!!! The prehnite crystals are complete and undamaged!!!
