Prehnite with Calcite

Glasgow, Scotland

7.2cm x 7.05cm x 5.5cm

Ex. Michigan College of Mines No. 9231

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-18567

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic, old time example of prehnite from Scotland!!! This specimen consists of a large mass of botryoidal prehnite that hosts a cluster of very well formed prehnite crystals paired with some scattered calcite crystals!!! These well formed crystals form a prominent, caterpillar-like cluster perched atop the matrix!!! The matrix has a multi-hued coloration to it that ranges from an almost bluish green to pale green, whereas the cluster of crystals has a pale golden hue to them!!! The pics hardly capture just what a fine and unique prehnite specimen this is!!! This specimen likely dates to the 19th century!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains its old, original labels and original anique, glass-lined specimen box!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
