Proustite with Safflorite

O'Brien Mine, Coleman Township, Cobalt area, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada

4.62cm x 3.63cm x 2.36cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare example of proustite on safflorite from Cobalt!!! This specimen consists of an almost botryoidal cluster of minute, silvery gray crystals of safflorite that hosts a rich showing of deep ruby red proustite crystals!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see that many of the tiny crystals are sharp, brilliant, and gemmy!!! In person, the proustite crystals are very sparkly and dynamic!!! Upon further inspection, one can find numerous submillimeter crystals of yellowish golden xanthoconite crystals as well (when viewed under a scope there are some very finely formed examples of this rare species)!!! Simply a fantastic example of proustite from Canada!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
