Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of rich silver ore from this famous historic locality!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of intense red massive
proustite and chlorargyrite in association with some almost spongiform native silver on an arsenopyrite-rich matrix!!!
The proustite is present as several large masses of deep cherry red massive proustite!!! There are also significant areas of
grayish chlorargyite that have an almost clay-like appearance!!! While much of the chlorargyrite is massive, there are some areas that
are coated with microcrystals as well!!! Some of the proustite is covered by a layer of chlorargyrite!!! In addition to the
rich masses of proustite and chlorarygite, there are is some native silver present as small, almost spongiform masses of native silver (although upon close
inspection with a loupe or scope reveals some minute wires of native silver as well)!!! The matrix hosts a dense showing of elongated
crystals of silvery arsenopyrite!!! Simply a fantastic old time Comstock beauty!!! Rare, old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person
to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 6th!!!
