Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of pyrargyrite from this famous historic locality!!! This specimen consists of a very rich showing of
ruby red pyrargyrite in association with quartz and other related sulfides, including a very unusual unidentified species!!!
This specimen hosts a large area of massive pyrargyrite with a significant area of crystalline pyrargyrite present as well!!! There
is a vug full of complex microcrystals of pyrargyrite with on larger crystal on one edge!!! Upon close examination there are tiny cavities scattered
about that host tiny, yet well formed crystals of ruby red pyrargyrite!!! In addition to the pyrargyrite, there is a significant crystal of
an unidentified species present as a brilliantly lustrous, metallic crystal on one edge of the specimen!!! I have always had an interest in this
classic material and we usually acquire every specimen we come across - I have never seen this material before however!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or
scope one can see very faint reddish flashes within, the material is somewhat soft, it is sectile and vaguely similar to kermesite - you can
see some tiny close up pictures that show the uncleaved side of the material and it is somewhat curious looking!!! It does not
appear to be any of the more typical species present with this material!!! Certainly an exciting
candidate for further analysis!!! Simply a fantastic example of old time silver ore from this famed locality!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
