Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of pyrargyrite from the Comstock Lode in Nevada!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of deep red pyrargyrite with
darkly colored stephanite in association with a mix of other sulphides including pyrite, galena, and sphalerite!!! There is a rich, broad vein
of pyrargyrite as well as significant masses and veins scattered throughout the specimen!!! There is a significant amount of darkly colored
massive stephanite present as well, in association with some darkly colored sphalerite and galena!!! There are also some scattered
areas of pyrite!!!
Specimens from this locality are quite scarce today, as very few specimens survived smelting in the fervent search for riches!!!
Nevada is known as "The Silver State" due to its rich silver-mining history and it all began in this famous district!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 10th!!!
