Description/Interesting Notes:
A historic, old time example of pyrargyrite from the Comstock Lode!!! This specimen consists of a rich showing of
massive pyrargyrite in association with other sulfides and a small amount of calcite!!! There is one small, but
prominent and very well formed crystal of pyrargyrite perched on the calcite and, upon close inspection, one
can see some other smaller crystals of pyrargyrite in addition to the rich areas of massive red pyrargyrite!!!
The calcite has a light, golden
color and marked luster!!! Specimens from this locality are quite scarce today, as very few specimens survived
smelting in the fervent search for riches!!! Nevada is known as "The Silver State" due to its rich silver-mining history and
it all began in this famous district!!! This specimen came from a small group of pyrargryite specimens from the Gould & Curry
Mine that came from Forrest Cureton!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
