Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare, old time example of pyromorphite and cerussite from Missouri!!! This specimen consists of a massive,
chert-like fossillized coral matrix that hosts a rich showing of complex cerussite crystals and lively green botryoids of
pyromorphite!!! The overall color and aesthetics of this specimen is way better than the pictures show!!! Upon close inspection, one
can see that the cerussite crystals are well formed with sharp, complex faces!!! The pyromorphite is present as botryoidal crystals that have lively green
color and marked translucence!!! There are some microcrystals of pyromorphite present as well!!! This is OLD material that dates
to the late 1800's!!! These old time Joplin pyromorphite & cerussite specimens are nearly impossible to obtain!!! The chert-like matrix
is absolutely diagnostic!!! The matrix is actually fossilized coral and, in addition to
tiny characteristic features scattered about, there is a large area of fossilized coral prominently perched on one edge of the specimen!!!
This combination of features makes for an extraordinary old time Tri-State beauty!!! An amazing specimen in so many regards!!! There
is also a tiny, old catalogue label affixed to the specimen as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 6th!!!
