Pyromorphite Mt Isa - Cloncurry area, Queensland, Australia 4.5cm x 3.24cm x 1.43cm Ex. L. W. Rees Collection Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum No. DM-11786

Description/Interesting Notes: A unique, old time example of pyromorphite from Australia!!! This specimen hosts numerous highly complex pyromorphite crystals that are almost white in color!!! Upon close examination, one can actually see that the crystals are made up of complex, slightly curving stacks of disc-like hexagonal plates (if you scroll through the pics you'll get a good idea of this, as there is a crystal that is just a few "plates" thick near the bottom of the pics)!!! With the unusual habit and color I would almost want to have it tested to see if it wasn't the much rarer species hedyphane!!! Regardless, this is a very unique old time pyromorphite indeed!!! Curiously, there are also a few areas where the crystals have decomposed into a white powder - in one instance leaving behind a partial shell of a crystal!!! This specimen retains an old A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum label with notation that it had come from the collection of L.W. Rees!!! Old material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
