A fantastic example of pyrophyllite after andalusite from North Carolina!!! This specimen is from a old,
defunct locality!!! In addition to sprays of primary pyrophyllite this specimen hosts numerous andalusite
crystals that have been completely replaced by pyrophyllite crystals!!! There are a few platy groups of dark bluish-gray gormanite and some
tiny microcrystals of blue lazulite as well!!! These specimens are quite
scarce indeed!!! We acquired this specimen along with a small group of pyrophyllite
specimens from the collection of Belmont Abbey College that had been collected decades
ago!!! I have posted a picture of the label that came with the specimens and this label WILL come with this specimen - as it is certainly the
best one in the lot!!! This was the only specimen that was associated with other species and exhibited such sharp and numerous pseudomorphs!!! The pics hardly do
this unique specimen justice!!!
